One of semi-finals of the regional stage of the competition for grant support “U.M.N.I.K” was held on April 7, 2015 at the Kazan State Medical University (KSMU).
The main objective of the competition is to identify young scientists seeking self-actualization through innovation, and to encourage mass participation of youth in science, technology and innovation activities through organizational and financial support of innovative projects.
In the semi-final of the competition were announced 16 projects from 11 departments of the university. The works of the students were evaluated by the professional jury, among who were Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Ilshat Mustafin, head of Department of the development of innovative programs of Technopark “Idea” Farida Gainullina, head of Department of the development of the Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan Arsen Savva.
According to event organizers, this year the number of applications is more than in the past. It affects the experience of the previous year, when KSMU has taken a leading place among all universities of the Republic of Tatarstan by the number of young scientists - winners of this program.
In general, most of the projects were presented medical orientation and related to IT technologies.
All projects were evaluated on criteria such as scientific novelty, relevance of idea, the technical significance of the product, implementation plan of the idea into a final product, the prospect of commercialization, assessment of its capabilities and enthusiasm for the idea.
According to the result of selection in the semifinals of the competition took place 10 projects.
The winners of the final stage of the competition will be able to participate in the contest “Fifty best innovative ideas for the Republic of Tatarstan”, and also will receive from the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in scientific-technical sphere grant support in the amount of 200,000 rubles for the implementation of their projects in the first year and the opportunity to obtain the same grant for the second year.
