Russian Quantum Center (RQC) and the RT Nanotechnology Centre “Idea”, a resident of Technopark “Idea”, have expressed their interest in the creation of a joint laboratory.
RQC plans to open its first representative office outside of Moscow. Both partners wish to be the representatives of Russia in the international scientific community. It is expected that the possibility of establishing a joint laboratory in the Nanocentre’s infrastructure will be the first stage for study.
Quantum physics is beyond the scope of the Nanocentre’s specialization – it’s a new area. The result of the centres’ joint activities could be the investment R&Ds on the creation of a commercial product in the field of quantum optics. In particular, it could be technological solutions for a quantum computer: research and development of new materials, sub-micron optical transistors and high-frequency optical electronics. All the projects - for several dozens of billion rubles.
So the partners will face with an interesting challenge to bring basic quantum physics’ research to the practical level through the commercialization of researches, which the Nanocentre offers to the scientists.
“A great deal of basic research is way ahead of its time, there is no a clear understanding of its commercialization potential, the Russian market is unable to adopt technology on its basis, - commented General Director of the RT Nanotechnology Centre Dmitry Pashin. - Infrastructure companies need to present a united front to obtain a synergistic effect and make its way on the international stage, to take the most promising market niches. Related mutual benefit from the partnership - is an attraction of the best scientific expertise, regardless of nationality”.
In turn, the RQC Scientific and Advisory Councils could be powerful channels for promotion of the Nanocentre’s services information for innovators throughout Russia. To the point, the Scientific Council of the Quantum Center includes the leaders of the global science, as well as two Nobel laureates, and the Supervisory Board includes representatives of the Russian government, and major figures of Russian and world economy.
