National Association of Innovation and IT Development summed up the results of the “Rating of Regional Innovation Activity for 2012”. The contest involved 83 regions of Russia.
National Association of Innovation and IT Development estimates the activity of innovation and high-technology in Russia on an annual basis. The estimation is based on methods of the leading world counterparts (primarily on the basis of European Innovation Scoreboard).
A system of quantitative innovation indicators is used to determine the regional activity index. The experts took the criteria for assessment of European countries innovation development as a basis and adapted it according to national specific aspects and opportunities to find a variety of statistic data.
The Rating was estimated by regions showing the best performance indicators in the development of science and innovation.
The estimation results revealed that the number of high innovation activity regions has been increased. And the number of low activity regions has been reduced as well.
Tatarstan ranked third, yielding the place to St. Petersburg. The index of Tatarstan innovation activity was 0.3383. To the point, a year earlier the third position was given to St. Petersburg.
