The IV Republican Competition “Tatarstan Erudite - 2012” was held in the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan on the 17th of May, 2012. For two years in succession, the Competition includes the nomination “Nano-IQ”, organized by Technopark “Idea”.
The nomination is designed to raise interest in nanotechnology, nanomaterials and nanosystems and motivate students to extend and improve their knowledge of current trends in multidisciplinary field of fundamental and applied science and technology.
Students of 7-11 grades answered 22 theme-based questions.
The absolute winner in terms of number of correct answers became Svetlana Matvejeva, a student of 11th grade of Vysokogorsky Municipal Budgetary General Education Institution “Secondary General School of Biruli”.
The second place was given to Trapeznikova Aliya, a student of 7th grade of School No. 10 of Nizhnekamsk city.
Three laureates of the nomination were awarded consolation prizes for showing the highest activity.
It should be reminded that the Republican Competition “Erudite” has been held since 2009 on the yearly base.
The competition’s organizers are as follows: Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, RT Academy of Sciences, Kazan (Volga) Federal University (KFU), Innovational and production Technopark “Idea” and Academic Lyceum named by N. I. Lobachevsky.
Annually, students of 7-11 grades from across the republic took part in the Competition. The essence of the Competition “Erudite” is passing mini-exam on the main subjects taught in school. Within one hour, students are able to answer questions from the history, physics, biology, philosophy and etc.
The nomination “Nano-IQ” within the framework of the Competition was established by Innovational and production Technopark “Idea” in 2011. Participants, showed the highest erudition in the nanotechnology, are awarded special high-technological prizes from the organizer of the nomination.
This year, about 300 students from different regions of the Republic of Tatarstan have taken part in the first qualifying round of the competition, and 78 students have been selected to the second round. According to the results of the IV Republican Competition “Tatarstan Erudite - 2012”, two students were awarded degree of “Junior Academician” and six students became laureates for maximum number of scores on the results of two rounds.
