In the framework of Russian-American Forum “Global Innovation Partnership”, held October 11-13, 2010 in Moscow and Kazan, American delegation were introduced with the investment and innovation potential of the Republic of Tatartsan.
The organizers of the Russian-American Forum “Global Innovation Partnership” were RUSNANO, the Russian Venture Company, fund “Skolkovo”, Global Technology Symposium, Silicon Valley Bank. The purpose of the Forum was the development of international contacts in the field of innovation.
The delegation included a pioneer of venture investment in USA, partner-founder of Asset Management Company, cofounder of Draper and Johnson Investment Company Franklin “Pitch” Johnson; co-chairman of Council Fund “Skolkovo”, chairman of the Board of Directors of Intel Corporation from 2005 to 2009 years Craig Barrett; general partner and co-founder of New Enterprise Associates (NEA) Dick Kramlich; managing director and partner of Insight Venture Partners Deven Parekh; managing director of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners Mark Gorenberg; general director of Khosla Ventures Pierre Lamond; co-founder and managing director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson Tim Draper and others.
Innovative Technopark “Idea” took part in a panel discussion “Presentation of the innovation and investment potential of the region as an example of resident companies of the Republic of Tatarstan”. Within the bounds of this panel discussion general director Sergey Yushko briefed the delegation members with an innovative infrastructure of the republic, its subjects, and also in detail described the activities of the group of companies “Idea”, the interaction with the institutions of the development of the Russian Federation, such as the Foundation of Assistance for Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE), RUSNANO and the Russian Venture Company, the completed and future projects of Technopark “Idea”.
Director of “Sillicon Valley Bank” Dick Kramlich noted that due to the development of innovation in Silicon Valley it was succeed to create more than 12 million jobs. “In Russia I was the first time. We are here to explore certain industries and existing opportunities for business development”, - he explained. According to Mr. Kramlich it is planned to implement joint projects which include the development of innovation technologies. “The colleagues who came with me in Russia have many ideas in medical and other spheres”, - added the guest.
Representatives of the venture business of Silicon Valley also met with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and with heads of leading republic companies, international resident companies which are successfully working and developing in Kazan.
