Technopark “Idea” took part in the International Forum on Sustainable Development of Russian Cities.

The International Forum on Sustainable Development of Russian Cities was held with the participation of experts from the European Conference of Ministers Responsible for Regional/Spatial Planning (CEMAT) in the city of Yelabuga on October 12 and 13, 2009. Organizers of the conference were the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Council of the Yelabuga Municipal District and Yelabuga City.

The Forum was opened by Prime-minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Duma deputy of the Russian Federation Gulnara Sergeeva and deputy minister of regional development of the Russian Federation Sergey Yurpalov.

Mission of the Forum: The International Forum on Sustainable Development of Russian Cities had been designed as a discussion ground for constructive debate of the issues associated with the development of Russian cities, including those where large-scale federal projects are being implemented and single-industry towns.

The Forum was considered to be a tool for promoting the real dialogue and interaction between society and state, business and political structures in the interests of the harmonious development of cities, since their efficient development and functioning contribute largely to the success in implementing the social and economic policies of the Russian Federation.

A top-priority objective of the Forum was to consolidate federal, regional, local authorities and the public for working out their common stands and solutions in improving the efficiency of development and functioning of cities, for elaborating and implementing programmes and projects which would unite together the efforts of various branches and levels of government and the public in tackling the issues of urban development.

The Forum was attended by experts in urbanistics, elaboration and implementation of town development strategies, professionals in the field of urban communities and municipal government development, practicing city managers from different countries, and mayors and parliamentarians from Russian and foreign cities. Over 300 representatives from Russian cities took part in the Forum to obtain interesting and important information, exchange ideas and opinions, and present and discuss their own city projects. 

The topics selected for discussion at the Forum were "Urban Community and Modern City Strategies", "Russian Cities of Hope: Specific Development Features of Cities and Territories Selected As Locations for Implementation of Large-Scale Federal Projects", "State Policies Applicable to Development of Single-Industry Territories", "City as Territory of Knowledge, Creativity and High Culture", and many others.

Within the framework of the Forum round work table “City as a territory of knowledge, creativity and high culture. Creation and development of innovation environment of cities and territories” was organized by Ministry of Economy of the Republic ofTatarstan, Institute for Creative Systems Development, “Effective communication” LLC and Technopark “Idea”. Moderators of the round work table were general director of the Technopark “Idea” Sergey Yushko and director of “Effective communication” LLC Raziya Sokolova. Company “Effective communication” is a resident of the Technopark and specializes in consulting researches in the sphere of human resource management of state structures and real sector of economy.
