An efficiency of scientific, technological and innovative development and strengthen support for technological entrepreneurship will be increased in Tatarstan. Today, the Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan, Technopark “Idea”, Kazan Federal (Volga region) University and a startup studio of Innopolis University presented new Programmes to support innovative projects at the briefing “Programmes to support innovative projects in the Republic of Tatarstan”.
Within the framework of the federal project “Platform of University technological entrepreneurship”, there will be a competition “Student Startup”, a programme “Business Angels – return on investment”, projects “University startup studios”, “Accelerators and pre–accelerators”, “Trainings of entrepreneurial activity”, “Vacations for startups”, “Entrepreneurial boiling points”, “Early Stage Funds” and “Academic leave”.
There will be “advanced engineering schools” and “World-class campuses” in the republic. Currently, these federal projects are being formed within the framework of the state programme “Scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation” and “Development of infrastructure for scientific research and training”. In Tatarstan, programmes to support technology entrepreneurs are implemented by the Investment and Venture Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Grants to small businesses are attracted by the Technopark “Idea”, which is the regional representative office of the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE).
“The volume of grant financing in Tatarstan is steadily growing, which indicates an annual increase in the number and improvement of the quality of the projects being announced. In 2021, the amount of funding amounted to 843 million rubles,” said Oleg Ibragimov, CEO of “Idea”.
He recalled that in 2019, 617 million rubles were attracted to the republic to support innovative entrepreneurship, in 2020, the total amount of grants increased to 721 million rubles.
The range of programmes of the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises ensures involvement in project activities, and gives an opportunity to receive funding for established companies, as well as students, and even schoolchildren.
The first step in the support system of the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises begins at the age of 18 and a programme “UMNIK”, which provides a grant of 500 thousand rubles per year. Having worked out your idea, you can take part in the next programme – “Student Startup” and attract 1 million rubles a year for the development of the project. The next stages are programmes “Start-1” and “Start-2”, which provide funding of up to 4 and 8 million rubles per year, respectively.
Support programmes, already for legal entities, continue “Business Start”, “Development” and “Commercialization”. They provide grant support of up to 12, 20 and 30 million rubles per year, respectively.
Thus, in the horizon of 7 years, a project, having originated on the programme “UMNIK” and having reached “Commercialization”, can receive grant support from FASIE up to 75.5 million rubles.
The new programme of FASIE “Student Startup”, launched in 2022, deserves special attention. Out of 2,300 applications in Russia, 401 applications are in Tatarstan. An examination of applications will be carried out during May, and the results of the competition will be summed up in June.
