The Russian Venture Forum is being held in Kazan today. Traditionally, it consists of congress and exhibition blocks.
President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov recalled, in his welcoming speech at the opening of the forum and the specialized exhibition that a pandemic and a spread of the new coronavirus infection had separated everyone, and everyone missed communication. Today, there is a great opportunity to discuss new projects and exchange experiences at the Russian Venture Forum, he said.
Executive Director of the Russian Association for Venture Investment (RAVI) Albina Nikkonen, in turn, noted that this year the forum is being held for the 15th time. I remember what the forum was like 15 years ago, when the venture business was incomprehensible to many, and the word startup was unfamiliar, Albina Nikkonen said. She thanked Tatarstan for its hospitality and expressed confidence that this platform unites people with new venture projects who want to conquer the world. “I am sure that investors and startups will find each other and conquer the world, and bring Tatarstan to the number of leading territories”, - said Albina Nikkonen.
Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation Arkady Dvorkovich recalled that the World Skills 2019 was held at the Kazan Expo site, and today venture capital investments are being discussed. The world is discussing rescue options, and we are discussing risky projects, Arkady Dvorkovich said, and this is correct. “We say that we need to invest in high-risk projects. And this is no coincidence: no one knows what the future will be, so you have to take risks, but you have to do everything wisely”.
Then there was a tour of the expositions of innovative participating companies, including the Technopark “Idea”. Thus, CEO of the Technopark Oleg Ibragimov told Rustam Minnikhanov and all the participants of the event about the joint developments of the “Idea” and its partners. Rustam Minnikhanov expressed interest in the projects and noted the need for their further development and implementation.
