Tatarstan was on the second line of the rating of innovative development of Russian regions of the Higher School of Economics. This was announced by Director of the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) Leonid Gokhberg, reports TASS.
According to him, the rating was headed by Moscow. St. Petersburg took the third place, followed by Tomsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk and Kaluga regions.
“Actually, I would say that there are not any big surprising discoveries in this rating. <...> It is not so much fundamentally important how someone moved from one place to another, it is significant that the main regions, which play a central role in the development of innovation, technology, education, digital economy, retain and develop these positions”, - said Mr. Gokhberg
All regions of Russia are divided into four groups that characterize the socio-economic conditions of innovation, its effectiveness, scientific and technological potential and the quality of innovation policy of regional authorities. In the first group there are 8 leading subjects, and Tatarstan demonstrated the most uniform development in most macroeconomic indicators.
According to the study, the republic ranks the 10th place in terms of gross regional product (GRP) per worker in the economy, the 9th place in terms of fixed assets ratio and share of people employed in high-tech industries. It is also noted that innovation policy is best developed here.
The rating is based on many years of research by the Higher School of Economics and has been compiled by experts from the Institute for Statistical Studies and the Knowledge Economy of the University since 2012.
